We can help you ensure your computer is properly backed up and continues to be backed up on a regular basis. I am getting a lot of pop-ups, how can I fix that?
Spyware has become a very nasty problem that effects nearly all computers that are connected to the internet. To check for and remove spyware that has infected your computer you can use a free program. We are able to scan and remove spyware. The success of getting rid of all the spyware depends on how badly affected the computer is.
The power went out and now my computer won’t turn back on, what do I need to do?
Most new computers have a built in power safety measure that will keep you from turning your computer back on immediately after a power interruption. To reset this feature, simply unplug the computer from the wall for 10-30 seconds and try again. If this doesn’t work, it could be that you have a faulty power supply. We are able to replace a power supply in about 30 minutes with a new one.
There was a burning smell and my computer shut off, what is wrong?
When you smell something burning it is usually a component in your computer melting or burning up. First, unplug the device from all power sources, including removing the battery (if it is a portable device with a battery). If something is burning we would not want any harm to yourself or others. The two most common culprits are your power supply or motherboard. We would need to look at the computer to diagnose the exact problem, and repair it. Power supplies can be replaced very quickly and you are up and running again. We provide onsite cleaning of computers and servers so that your computer is able to cool properly.
My computer says to insert a boot disk, do you have one I can buy?
If your computer was working before and then all of a sudden started giving you this error, there is a good chance that you have a failing hard drive. The hard drive stores all your information. It is important to not continue attempting to use the computer. Hard drive damage can vary. With certain types of hard drive failures, it is possible, for a short period of time, to recover important hard drive data (pictures and documents) using another computer. Hard drive recovery depends on what has failed on the drive.
I have cable or DSL high speed internet, why can’t I get on the internet or check my email?
Sometimes this issue can occur if you have lost connection to your internet service provider (ISP) due to a power interruption, but there are other causes as well. To reset the connection turn off your computer and unplug your cable or DSL modem and your router if you have one. Wait a few seconds then plug the power back into the router first, if you have one, and after it has finished the boot up process (generally 20-30 seconds) then turn your computer on. Next, plug your modem back in and let it complete its boot up process and try your internet again. If it still is not working we can help you call your ISP, to diagnose the issue.
What is the difference between a laptop and a notebook computer?
There is really no difference between the two, they are two names for the same thing invented by marketing departments years ago to help sell their products.
